Editing Process...

1) This is one step of the editing process, In the clip you can see me matching up the track with the person's lip movements in the video.

2) This clip shows me adding the name of the artist and song to the beginning of the track so that it looks more professional, it appears within the first 5-10seconds of the video and reappears again 5-10 seconds before the video finishes.

3) An important part of my music video was the speed, I spend a lot of time speeding up and slowing down clips so that the beat fit with the movement within the video. This video shows me speeding up the last part of my video.

4) Originally when we planned our video we wanted to have a lot more of the main actor singing to the camera, but we hadn't filmed that part that we needed. This was quite a problem because it didn't follow the storyline, also we now had a huge gap where we wanted the singing to be and so we had to make do with the footage that we had. I overcame this issue quite well.

5) I decided that in order to suit the genre more that I wanted to make the video change colour from black and white to sometimes colour, I thought this would have a good effect on the video. I tried to make it look as though whenever the person had a balaclava on it made the setting colourful.

Update 11/03/13...

Today in lesson we did peer assessments on our music videos, assessing our progress so far and applying a grade to it. We were given the success criteria for the editing module and had to grade an others work in reference to the criteria. I learned from my feedback where I needed to improve, in my music video so far, although I thought I was almost finished, the person who assessed my video said that the last 30 seconds of the video should be replaced with something else as it didn't fit the storyline and graded it currently at a Merit. I immediately acted upon this and deleted the last 30 seconds and rearranged my video so that it made more sense. I think that my overall video has improved, and I really benefited from the peer feedback. I also used the criteria to grade someone else's progress so far, this also proved useful to me because I read in depth the grade boundaries in order to provide a grade for the persons work which made it easier for me to return back to my computer to improve it because I knew exactly what made the video a distinction level.

Storyboard with Codes...

This is another copy of my storyboard, I have added in the codes which match which shots of footage.  I am able to access the correct shots quicker just by looking at this storyboard. This means that if a random person was to have access to this storyboard, my footage and my Excel spreadsheet containing my codes they should be able to create a video which follows the same story as mine.

Lesson 11/02/13...

Todays lesson consisted of analysing other media students' videos to determine what grade they would suit and how we could compare our progress to their overall project. We consolidated the compulsory requirements of pass, merit and distinction criteria and again compared it to what we had managed to edit so far. After this discussion we continued editing, I played around with the speed of my video and changed how fast clips played to suit the beat of the song, I also reversed some clips. I played all footage backwards to see if my music video would look better if I changed the way the story was told. But so far my music video is coming together and relates to the storyboard.

Vlog...

This is my vlog on what editing is, why we do it and a brief history on editing.

Beginning editing...

Today in class I began editing my footage, having marked up footage it made finding certain clips much  more easier. I played around with many effects to try and achieve the best look for the video that I can, I thought that the black and white effect made the video look quite good and so I applied this to my clips.
